The Mom Who Finally Took a Weekend for Herself

When We Rest, We Heal

One of my favorite stories started with a message from a mom who was exhausted.

She told me she desperately needed a break.

Not a family vacation.

Not a girls' trip.

Not a weekend packed with activities.

Just a little time alone.

The problem?

She had never done anything like that before.

She wasn't sure how she'd feel.

She wondered if she'd get lonely.

She wondered if she'd be safe.

She wondered if she could actually relax.

As we exchanged messages, I assured her that while the Treehouse feels wonderfully secluded, we have great neighbors nearby and help just around the corner if ever needed.

Slowly, she began to feel more comfortable.

And eventually, she booked her stay.

She chose the Romantic Treehouse because she wanted a quiet place to read, spend time in nature, and relax on the suspended hammock deck beneath the trees.

When she arrived, she did exactly that.

She read books.

She took naps.

She meditated.

She watched the birds.

She listened to the sounds of nature.

She sat in the hammock.

She enjoyed something that many of us don't get enough of.

Peace.

A few days later, I received the sweetest message.

She told me the stay was exactly what she needed.

Not extravagant.

Not complicated.

Just restorative.

She even sent us photos of some of the birds she discovered during her stay and told us how much she enjoyed watching the squirrels play throughout the property.

As a mom myself, and as a career woman, that message meant more to me than she probably realized.

Because I understand how easy it is to spend every day taking care of everyone else.

And how difficult it can feel to take a little time for yourself.

As a woman-owned business, helping create those moments is incredibly meaningful to both my husband and me.

We built UpCountree Cabins to help people slow down, reconnect, and recharge.

Sometimes that means helping a couple celebrate an anniversary.

Sometimes it means helping someone plan a proposal.

And sometimes it means helping a tired mom find a few quiet days to herself.

We all need that sometimes.

And knowing that our little treehouse could provide a safe place to rest, recenter, and reset is one of the reasons we love what we do.

Because sometimes the most important relationship to reconnect with is the one you have with yourself.
